Teacher’s Round Table - FAQ

1. Is anyone going to try and sell me anything? No.

2. Who is hosting this? Amy Richter, a career educator and educational therapist from ChildFirst Learning.

3. Why are you doing this? Many of us do not feel satisfied with our news sources, and it’s important to know what’s actually going in the world. We need real-world, face-to-face communication, to get a sense of what is actually happening. We can’t trust FaceBook, TikTok, Twitter or Instagram, because those sources are curated for and pointed at us. Let’s talk in real time!

4. What can I expect if I come? A sensible, moderated discussion between peers.

5. Will there be a keynote speaker? No - we will be speaking to each other. No lectures, powerpoints, or note-taking.

6. Do I get C.E.U.’s for this? No, this is meant to benefit us in real life, not on paper.

7. What are the rules? I ask that you follow the same rules you enforce in your classroom - including respect, patience, and kindness to others who may or may not share your views. Also, no video or audio recording, and please, adults only.

8. Are parents invited? Not this time - I am only looking for K-12 educators who work in a classroom for this meeting.

9. Will the discussion be moderated? Yes - we all have a lot to say, so to make sure everyone gets heard, each person will have a time limit. I reserve the right to ask someone to leave if they become abusive or disrespectful. This is a chance for teachers to express themselves freely, not a debate.

10. Will there be food? Yes! Snacks and drinks will be provided, as a small way to show you my deep appreciation and gratitude for the job you are doing and for taking the time to come tell me about it.

It’s time for us to come together. Teachers supporting teachers, following our calling, caring for and educating children in many different ways.
